Winter Workshop Set for Mexico—An International Gathering for the Global Cave Diving Community

Tulum, Mexico – February 20-27, 2026 — National Speleological Society-Cave Diving Section (NSS-CDS), a dedicated nonprofit for the advancement of cave diving education, exploration, and safety, announces the 2026 International Winter Workshop in Tulum, Mexico. Set on the Caribbean coast of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, this unique event will bring together cave divers, instructors, explorers, and researchers from around the world.

While NSS-CDS holds an International Cave Diving Conference annually, this marks the first International Winter Workshop held outside of the United States. NSS-CDS is proud to be partnering with Underworld Tulum for this special event!

Dive into an unforgettable experience, February 20–27, 2026. During this week-long workshop enjoy a dynamic mix of daytime cave diving in stunning caverns and caves gloriously decorated with speleothems and early evening socials and informal “fireside chats/presentations” that foster global friendship and knowledge-sharing. The event line up also features formal presentations, meet and greets, raffle prizes, awards and more—all designed to inspire, educate, and bring the global diving community together.

Special guests for the 2026 workshop include some of the most respected voices in the dive community: Michael Menduno of InDepth Magazine; Ricardo Castillo of Dive Rite Mexico; Roger Williams of XOC-Ha; Sam Meacham of CINDAQ; and Lanny and Claire Vogel of Underworld Tulum.

The Winter Workshop would also not be complete without its traditional Grand Prize Raffle*. This prize package for 2 divers includes 7 days/6 nights of lodging at Underworld Tulum (double occupancy), 5 days of diving with a professional guide on two of those days, rental tanks and weights, and generous travel support: up to $200 in breathing gas, up to $1,000 in airfare, and up to $400 in rental car reimbursement.
