PRESS RELEASE

WEGGIS, SWITZERLAND, FEB. 28, 2024—Martin C. Wright has just published the English adaptation of his diving novel. The original German version was released in 2022 and received favorable reviews by several diving magazines, including Wetnotes® and Divemaster.

During a diving weekend on their boat “Ra”, members of the Lucerne Dive Club Neptune accidentally find an old sports car wreck in front of the steep bank of Buergenstock in Lake Lucerne, Switzerland; far from any road. Further dives in the area of discovery lead to an even more explosive finding of historical dimensions: A crate that comes from the Third Reich. The Neptune divers are not the only ones interested in the find. Mysterious incidents now befall the divers.

Martin is a retired Molecular Biologist who worked in the biotech industry. He started diving in 1994. His certification include CMAS-three-star, OC TDI Advanced Trimix, and CMAS JJ CCR Normoxic Diver. He held also instructor ratings for Tech 2 by the German agency PATD and as Open Water and Nitrox instructor by SDI/TDI. He has dived, among others, the wrecks of Scapa Flow, the Red Sea, kelp forests off California, reefs in the South Atlantic off Brazil, and numerous destinations in the Mediterranean, including the wreck of the super tanker Haven.

He most enjoys to explore new dive sites in Lake Lucerne. The lake is situated in central Switzerland, with a total area of 114 km² and a maximum depth of 214 m. Much of the shoreline rises steeply into mountains up to 1,500 m above the lake, mirrored by steep rock walls underwater. The lake offers some of the best fresh and cold water diving in Europe.

The interesting missions and exciting experiences in his Lucerne diving club, “Tauchsportgruppe Poseidon Luzern” inspired him to write this book. He says: “This diving club is quite unique. It has its own boat, equipped with all sorts of technology for search and salvage, and has dedicated itself to the recovery of sunken cars and boats, setting buoys, underwater inspections and recording of lake bottom profiles. One of the more spectacular things was the accidental discovery and subsequent salvage of a classic Porsche 356 wreck in 2014, broadly covered by national news. This inspired me to document some of these experiences, but in a fictional style to make it attractive for a broader audience. Most characters in the book are based on my diving buddies. The dives, including near misses, are described in detail and technically accurate. The same holds true for depicted landscape, diving area, and many historic facts.

The self published book is available as kindle edition on Amazon
