Introducing The FITNESS IN DIVING Podcast

Dr David Charash, a diving medicine physician in the United States, has devoted much of his medical career to caring for the diving community. He is board certified in undersea and hyperbaric medicine, as well as emergency medicine. He is certified by the Diving Medical Advisory Committee and the European Diving Technology Committee (DMAC/EDTC) as a Level 2D Diving Medical Physician and the DMAC/EDTC as a Level 1 Medical Examiner of Divers. He is a Divers Alert Network (DAN) referral physician, a DAN instructor, and a volunteer on the DAN research team. He is founder and principle of Dive Medicine and Hyperbaric Consultants, offering consultations to the diving and hyperbaric industry.
Through the years, Dr Charash has promoted dive safety and increased dive community knowledge through a series of workshops, symposiums and lectures. He has presented both nationally and internationally.
Dr Charash has recently produced a podcast series: Fitness in Diving. This series features conversations with divers, physicians, and scientists. The series’ focus will be on the many aspects of fitness in diving. A question on a given dive that each of us must ask before we put our fins on is, “Am I fit to dive?” The series will explore the six aspects of fitness in diving including physical skill, knowledge, physical fitness, nutrition, psychological fitness, and medical fitness.
These conversations will be with experts in the fields of dive safety, dive technology and dive medicine. The podcasts will benefit and be appropriate for all divers, including recreational, technical, scientific, public safety, commercial, military and free divers.
Our first podcast will feature a conversation with expedition leader and deep sea ocean explorer, Richie Kohler. He will reveal a never- before-publicly-disclosed story regarding how he was able to overcome a major health obstacle in his quest for fitness in diving.
A new podcast will be released every few weeks.
