Description

At Base1 Sardinia, we are passionate cave divers dedicated to providing world-class overhead training. Nestled in Sardinia, the gem of the Mediterranean, we explore magnificent caves surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

We offer GUE Cave, Tech, and CCR courses at all levels, including GUE Instructor training and regular ITCs. Additionally, we host JJ CCR factory classes up to hypoxic levels, with external instructors held to the highest standards.

As the official home of SUEX, we feature a fleet of DPVs, DrivE Sinapsi navigation systems, and double scooter frames. Our team is actively involved in cave exploration, mapping, and scientific projects under the organization Phreatic.org.

At Base1, we don’t just train divers — we immerse them in our passion for adventure and discovery.

FAQs
  • How do I get to Base1?

You can fly to Sardinia via Olbia, Cagliari, or Fertilia International Airports. We can arrange a shuttle transfer, or you can rent a car. If you prefer to travel by car, ferries to Olbia or Porto Torres are convenient options.
  • How are the diving logistics?

All cave entrances are easily accessible by boat, directly from the shoreline—no driving required. Enjoy the sun and sea before diving into the Tyrrhenian Sea. Boat rides offer stunning panoramic views, and depending on the cave, the journey lasts between 10 to 40 minutes.
  • What are the caves like?

The area boasts hundreds of caverns and caves, both dry and flooded, including some of Europe’s longest underwater systems. Dive through haloclines, hydrogen sulfide layers, and explore speleothems, vertical shafts, large phreatic passages, and challenging restrictions. Water temperatures range from 22°C in seawater to 15°C in freshwater. With their stunning formations and expansive galleries, these caves are Europe’s premier cave diving destination.
  • Who can train and dive with us?

We offer training at all levels. All staff members are GUE instructors but we host external instructors teaching for other diving organizations. While our focus is on cave diving, we also offer recreational and CCR training, from Discover Scuba to JJ-CCR. We welcome all divers who respect nature and want to enjoy diving.
