25 Things You Can Do While Waiting To Dive Again

A lot of us are facing boredom while we #stayhome. With all of this time out of the water, here are 25 things you can do to stay positive during quarantine.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone all over the world facing uncertainty and anxiety due to the pandemic.  With quarantines taking place and people either being mandated to stay home or choosing to self-isolate (good for you!), there is very little diving going on, which is likely the best thing for everyone’s health and safety. To keep your spirits up, here are 25 things we recommend  to keep up with your diving and to remain positive while staying dry during quarantine.

  1. Check your dry-suit for leaks and spend the afternoon fixing even the slightest hole.
  2. Replace the string holding the bolt snaps on your hoses.
  3. Organize and edit your backlog of diving photos and videos.
  4. Clean all masks and bolt snaps with vinegar.
  5. Replace wrist seals on your drysuit.
  6. Hand wash your undergarments.
  7. Write your name on all of your equipment.
  8. Decorate your fins with eco-paint/tape in crazy patterns.
  9. Sew your name into your hood.
  10. Build new equipment shelves. 
  11. Brush up on your dive skills on GUE.tv.
  12. Practice your kicks on the living room floor.
  13. Read InDepth articles you missed!!
  14. Download Quest Issues to read.
  15. Write an article for InDepth or Quest Magazine. 
  16.  Create a video for GUE.tv.
  17. Volunteer to help GUE with something you have a skill in.
  18.  Support your local dive shop by having your regs serviced
  19. Call a dive buddy just to see how they are.
  20. Plan a future dive trip for once the quarantine is over.
  21. Lead a virtual group workout for the GUE community or attend a virtual group workout.
  22. Brush up on Your Human Factors in Diving or read the blog.
  23. Create a video for the GUE.tv contest from old videos you have.
  24. Watch documentaries about our underwater world for inspiration.
  25. Review past course materials and study any areas you need to brush up on.
